If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Untitled-1 @ 100% (CMYK/Preview)About a week ago, Saul Klein (Index ventures) and Reshma Sohoni (3i) started a new pan European initiative for startups and talented entrepreneurs (read my previous post on Seedcamp).

At The Next Web 2008 edition we will host Showcases of successful/promising European companies, just like we did on the 2006 and 2007 edition. Netvibes, Hyves, esnips, Widsets, Respectance, Zyb, Mobiya, eBuddy and others presented their companies on main stage for the highly tech savvy crowd. We decided that we will give two of the winning Seedcamp teams the opportunity to Showcase their service on The Next Web ‘08.

Teams can sign up for Seedcamp and win 50k Euros (and a Showcase) and have a great experience to be working with Europe’s leading internet entrepreneurs and investors.

A lot of good stuff is happening in Europe (Open Coffee clubs everywhere) and seedcamp is one of those great initiatives that helps Europe become competitive and on the edge. Well done Saul and Reshma, we’re excited to be working with you guys.

Who’s more important? Swayze, Kluivert or de Laive

According to Google… who’s more important, Patrick Swayze, Patrick Kluivert or Patrick de Laive?
I asked myself this obviously very important question yesterday night.

So I started googling the name: “Patrick”

Guess what I found… Google thinks that Patrick Swayze is the most important of the three (on place 22 of 174.000.000 results (how dare they!). I’m 3 positions behind Swayze! on position nr 25.

As for Patrick Kluivert… He isn’t in the top 100, so I guess that all time soccer topscorer of the Netherlands isn’t a real achievement :)

Just between me and Patrick Swayze… Give me a couple of weeks and I’ll outrank you!

FIVE books (everyone should read)

Season’s readings

Originally uploaded by cjanebuy.

FIVEs second edition is out. After “FIVE web application that will change your life” I came up with “FIVE books everyone should read”.
10 years ago I went to a seminar of financial guru Bodo Schafer on ‘how to make my first million’. I have to say that it was deadly boring, but I do remember one thing he said:

“A man is the sum of all books he read” - Bodo Schafer

Now, ten years later I know that this was bullshit after all and that is because he forgot one word:

“A man is the sum of all good books he read” - Patrick de Laive :)

So to make sure you will not read crap, I selected the FIVE best books out there for you. And as my dear friend Albert Einstein said that “The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources” I’d like to ask you to keep this quiet….

It’s in Dutch… sorry

Seedcamp, opportunity for talents

seedcampToday, Saul Klein (Partner at Index ventures and speaker of The Next Web Conference 2007) and others launched Seedcamp, a kind of European version of the YCombinators Summer Founders Program.

What is Seedcamp?
At Seedcamp Europe’s brightest and most ambitious young entrepreneurs come together to start their new startup. It starts of with 20 startup teams from all over Europe and at the end of the week 5 teams will be selected to get 50k in seed funding (for 10% of the shares) and to move to London for 3 months to work with a world class network of mentors and to build new cool European companies.

So if you are bright, talented and ambitious and want to work with the best VCs and web entrepreneurs of Europe, sign up for Seedcamp.

Added Wakoopa and Twitter to my Widgets

I just added the Wakoopa and the Twitter widget to my sidebar.

Wakoopa widget shows the top 10 software applications I have been using.
Twitter keeps track of my whereabouts

I also installed the wakoopa facebook app, pretty cool.
